Has Xbox outsold Wii and PS3 in Japan this week?

The prelimenary data is in from www.VGChartz.com for this weekends Japanese sales and it looks like the 360 has beaten PS3 this week and it may well have got the better of the Wii too. Star Ocean has had massive sales, somewhere in the region of 150k. We’ll have to wait until later in the week for the final numbers to come in, but this is what VGChartz had to say;

Xbox 360 Software – Star Ocean 4 was the only Xbox 360 game to chart in the preliminary data. However, it sold 165,000 units according to the preliminary data implying that first day sales were strong enough to merit supply replenishment from Square-Enix. Previous RPGs like Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery have boosted Xbox 360 hardware sales by ridiculous percentages (over 2000% above the previous week in one amazing case) but with Xbox 360 somewhat established as the cheap HD-RPG machine in Japan now a similarly amazing boost is unlikely. Expect Xbox 360 sales to jump to the 15,000 to 30,000 unit range this week, potentially ahead of both PS3 and Wii.
